Zenescoop Previews: Grimm Fairy Tales 2011 Holiday Edition

Well,  since the Holiday season is coming to a close, we don’t want to miss the opportunity to spotlight this year’s holiday edition. It is exciting to be able to bring a Zenescope twist to just about any tale, but The Christmas Carol was a fun one to revisit.

This was the cover B, done by Sjepan Sejic. Sjepan does a good amount of covers for Zenescope, and this one really captures the tale with a clever use of lighting. The moonlight background focuses on the dark possibilities and characters but the candlelit foreground offers a sense of hope. The whole tale is told in one image.

Now, let’s take a look at some of the interiors of the holiday edition. Here is page 16, done by Reno Maniquis, depicting the “past” that led to her current life.

Here is page 28 and 29,  done by Anthony Spay, depicting the dark ghouls that also haunt her that very night.

And finally, here is page 37, done by Jim Rodgers, depicting Elizabeth’s please for a chance to change her ways to Krampus.

And there you have it! Another glimpse into the recent work from us here at Zenescope. We hope you check out our holiday edition if you haven’t already. If you haven’t yet got yourself a copy of this specific issue, don’t forget that we sell all of our comic books on our website. This issue is available here.

Got an issue you think really needs to be featured? Just want to share your opinion on what we’re previewing? Please do! You are welcome to leave a comment on our blog, or you can “Like” us on Facebook, or Follow us on Twitter and share your thoughts with us.

Zenescope’s Wild Plans for 2012: The Jungle Book

Ladies and Gentlemen, We give you The Jungle Book! Well, we’re not just giving it to you and it’s not currently available, but we are proud to announce it is on its way. You can order it through the Diamond Previews or your local comic book store.

Here is a little breakdown as to how the story will unfold…

The new five-issue miniseries will follow Mowglii, a young girl raised by wolves who finds herself in the middle of what the animals call The Great Animal Battle. Mowglii must learn her place in the jungle and fight for survival against many exotic beasts. But she is not the only human in this jungle island. Three other children have been raised by different animal tribes: Bomani grows up in the tiger tribe that is led by the conniving Shere Kahn, Akili learned the ways of the jungle from the mischievous Tavi mongoose tribe, and Dewan comes of age within the unpredictable Monkeys of Bandar Log, which is led by the insane King Bandar Louis. Mowglii and the rest of the human cubs play key roles in the ongoing Great Animal Battle of Kipling Isle as they approach adulthood.

We also checked in with the writer to have him share some of his thoughts.

“I’ve always thought an animal civil war was a fun idea full of potential,” says writer Mark L. Miller. “Once I started thinking of it in the context of Kipling’s famous stories, it all fell into place… Plus, I get to play around with all of these characters I grew up reading about and loving as a child. It’s a dream come true.”

“Grimm Fairy Tales Presents The Jungle Book #1” will hit shelves in March of 2012, and feature four connecting covers by artist Ale Garza (shown up top). It currently is available for order through Diamond Previews for $2.99 and in full color.

We’re very excited to finally come clean on this project as we have been teasing it for a while. So, excited?

So, we will be featuring some of our issues  from our various series in a our new Zenescoop Previews posts.

New Person Behind the Curtain

Well Hello Everyone!

Come on in!

My name is Stephen Haberman and I am the new marketing manager here at Zenescope. I wanted to introduce myself as I will be the people behind the curtain here on the blog as well as in a few other places. It isn’t every day that someone finds themselves in the job of their dreams, but today I am happy to be one of those lucky people. Now, we are looking forward to growing the brand, and, of course, connecting to the fans.

The folks here at Zenescope are a very talented and driven team, and the work certainly proves that. It is that drive that really pushes us to bring you what you want. We have the blog and are on social media to connect with you and hear what you think. We are now focusing more on that goal. So, it’s time for you to get to know us and for us to get to know you, the fans.

We are going to be updating the blog more, chatting on twitter, and posting more sneak peeks into the rabbit hole. If you have any suggestions or requests as to what you want to see from us, don’t hesitate to let us know. We are very excited for the road ahead and I hope you are as well.
