Zenescope’s Gaming for a Cause

Zenescope fans are awesome.  This much is obvious. You guys have helped us fund the animated series pilot, came out in droves to our convention booths to meet us, and sang our praises all over social media. Thank you.

So Steve, your friendly digital voice on Zenescope here on the blog, and on social media, came up with a digital event worth looking into if you want to have another unique experience with your favorite Zenescope crew.

Zenescope is doing Extra Life. Extra Life is a 24 hour gaming marathon where gamers pledge to play video games for 24 hours straight and take donations in support of their marathon. 100% of the money raised goes to the Children’s Hospital Network to support the children’s hospitals in their area.  You can find the team page here:

http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.team&teamID=8662

So, we wanted the fans to know we would be playing and are open to having fans join the team. You are also welcome to donate, or just play along with us. We will be playing Saturday, October 20. Zenescope staff team members include: Stephen Haberman, Dave Franchini, and Matt Rogers so far, with more planning to join in on the fun.

If you decide to donate or join the team, you will be entered to win prizes, including Zenescope t-shirts, comics, and even MegaTouch will have some Grimm Fairy Tales Photohunt game codes to give away. We will also be putting together 3 prize packages for the 3 highest donors.  We hope that you are able to participate in the marathon, or at least watch as our team plays for the kids!

OUR NEW WEB SERIES “COMIC COMPANY”

Zenescope Entertainment has announced plans for a new documentary web-series entitled “Comic Company” which will give fans a behind-the-scenes look into the goings-on at its office based in the Philadelphia area.

The web-series will consist of short weekly segments documenting day-to-day happenings at the offices of the popular indie comic book publishing house including pitch meetings, job interviews and general interactions and relationships between employees.  It could normally be assumed there is not much excitement inside the walls of a comic book publisher. Zenescope’s work environment could very well be the exception to that rule, with some of the company’s own characters, such as Red Riding Hood, Bigfoot, Mad Hatter, Alice and Calie Liddle, being employed at the office. It’s no surprise that any day at this comic company could turn out to be an extremely interesting one.

“It’s been a pretty unique experience to open our doors to a film crew.” says Zenescope co-founder and Editor-in-Chief Ralph Tedesco “We have a pretty diverse and eccentric collection of personalities here.  Most of our employees were really excited about it with maybe the exception of Bigfoot and the Hatter.  They’re both pretty private in general but all in all they were okay with being involved and I think this will be a very cool glimpse into the inner workings of an entertainment company such as ours.”

The first segment of “Comic Company” will air Wednesday, April 18th at 2pm EST on Zenescope’s Youtube channel. It will be released on a weekly basis exclusively at this link: http://www.youtube.com/user/Zenescope

Lena Headey joins the Animated Series Kickstarter Project!

Zenescope Entertainment has announced that actress Lena Headey, star of the immensely popular HBO television series GAME OF THRONES, will be joining the Grimm Fairy Tales Animated Series to voice the lead character, Sela Mathers.  Lena’s extensive resume includes her role as Queen Gorgo in 300 and as Sarah Connor in TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES.   This announcement comes on the heels of another talented actress, Briana Evigan (Step Up 2, Sorority Girls, The Devil’s Carnival), having joined onto the project last week.

The GRIMM FAIRY TALES Animated Series will be based on Zenescope Entertainment’s popular comic book series of the same name.  What makes this situation unique is that Zenescope has teamed with Titmouse Animation Studio and Director Jon Schnepp (Metalocalypse, The  Venture Bros.) to bypass the traditional film studio system by seeking funding  for the  animated series through popular website Kickstarter.com (http://kck.st/wjSM8D ).  The project is live on Kickstarter now until May 1st, 2012 and has a pledge goal of $175,000.

“We set the goal of the animated series at 175K because we wanted to give our fans and those supporting the Kickstarter a high-quality product.” Explains Zenescope Marketing Manager Stephen Haberman “We’re partnering with Titmouse, one of the premiere animation studios in the world, to handle the animation.  We have Jon Schnepp directing and now with Lena and Briana joining the project, we’re able to take it to another level.”

“Crowd-funding can be a powerful tool.  We’ve seen some really exciting projects find funding through Kickstarter and it’s a game changer.”  Said Zenescope’s Editor-in-Chief, Ralph Tedesco “It gives us a chance to make this series the way our fans want to see it be made.  We’re about a third of the way there with funding and hopefully now with the all of the talent we’ve brought on board fans will see that this can be an amazing project to back.”

Zenescope Announces Alice in Wonderland Sell-Outs and Reprint

Zenescope Entertainment has announced plans for a second printing of Alice in Wonderland #1. The company’s newest Wonderland mini-series was released in January of 2012 and the initial printing sold through its 20,000 copy print run within the first few days of its release.

Further, the company has announced that Alice in Wonderland #2 has also sold out of its first printing within one day of its release after hitting shelves Wednesday, February 22nd.

Zenescope has decided to go to a second printing of issue #1 due to significant demand for additional copies from retailers and fans. Zenescope is hoping to have this second printing of issue #1 available for a March release. The company has not yet announced a reprint of issue #2.

“In five years of publishing various Wonderland mini-series, we’ve seen the demand for more Wonderland continue to increase.” said Zenescope EIC Ralph Tedesco. “Our loyal fan base has been at the heart of it all and we can’t express enough gratitude for their support.”

This news comes on the heels of CS Moore’s announcement for an Alice in Wonderland action figure. The figure was sculpted by industry star Clayburn Moore as Zenescope has teamed with CS Moore Studios to release a series of action figures based on Zenescope’s strong and sexy heroines from the series.

Alice in Wonderland #1 and #2 can currently be downloaded digitally using the Zenescope app for iphone and ipad and at Comxiology for ios or android users.
